We recently received the following vehicle hijacking and theft information from KVTR for July 2013.
Vehicle Hijacking Hotspots
N3 Freeway from Warden up to Vosloorus & Johannesburg area
Hijackers, posing as police or metro police officials, stop the drivers and tell them that there is a fault with the trailers.
Then the driver gets out his vehicle, he is hijacked at gunpoint.
R59 Road between Vereeniging and Johannesburg
It is almost the same in this area as in the previous two instances; but it has been reported that there is a marked White Toyota Corolla involved. Suspects posing as Metro Police Officials tell drivers that their licence disc and licence plate do not correspond. When the driver gets out of his vehicle, he is hijacked at gunpoint and forced into the Toyota.
