Theft at Dealerships and Auto Body Repair Companies

High Value Vehicles are currently being targeted by vehicle criminals at vehicle dealerships and especially Auto Body Repair Companies.

The suspects obtain the details pertaining to a specific vehicle at the Auto Body Repairers including the amount to be paid to the Auto Body Repairer as excess before the vehicle can be released. The excess is then paid into the account of the Auto Body Repairer and the suspects then proceed to collect the vehicle “on behalf of the client” or have it delivered to an address for the client”. Clients must advise Auto Body Repairers not to release their vehicles or make special arrangements to take delivery of their vehicles. When collecting your vehicle we suggest that you provide the Auto Body Repairer with your identification or to request the Auto Body Repairer to specifically request identification if you send through someone to collect your vehicle on your behalf. We are aware of 9 instances thus far, 2 vehicles are recovered and 3 arrests were made.

Theft of Vehicles and Home Contents by drugging Clients

Several instances happened over the last 6 weeks where 2 ladies met with clients at different News Cafes in Gauteng and the Blue Room in Pretoria City Centre.  These ladies meet men and go with them to their homes or hotel rooms, spike their drinks take their vehicles and house contents. These clients can only provide minimum detail about the events after they have arrived at the hotel room or at their homes. One of the vehicles were recovered at the Botswana Border.
